1

TRANSFER TO GANGTOK

Sikkim Adventure Tourism’s representative will receive and greet you on your arrival at NJP/ Bagdogra Airport. Then accompany you to your hotel in Gangtok. It will take almost 4 hrs to cover the 120 Km distance of NJP/Bagdogra to Gangtok. Sikkim’s capital Gangtok is a beautiful hill town. At an altitude of 5,410 ft Gangtok is the tourism centre of Sikkim. In 1840 the construction of Inchey Monastery paved the way for this place to become a Buddhist pilgrimage site. In 1894 the Sikkimese Chogyal (Religious King), Thutob Namgyal shifted the capital of The Kingdom of Sikkim to Gangtok. The journey to Gangtok will mesmerise you with the breathtaking view of alpine valley and daunting hills along with river Teesta. On the way to Gangtok you will have your Lunch. After check into your hotel you are exclusively free for the day. You can stroll around the beautiful M G Marg. You will find colourful souvenir shops, cafes, eateries and other shops over here. SIGHTSEEING AT TSOMGO LAKE AND BABA MANDIR

After breakfast your first destination is Kyongnosla falls on the way to Tsomgo Lake commonly known as Chhangu Lake. It is a 2 and half hrs journey towards Tsomgo Lake from Gangtok. Tsomgo Lake is a glacial lake in Sikkim and located at an elevation of 12,313 feet. On your way to Tsomgo Lake you will pass by Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary which is home to rare animals like Red Panda, Himalayan Black Bears and birds like Blood Pheasants. Normally you could spot only few yaks. Tsomgo Lake is filled with water of melting snow coming from the surrounding mountains. This oval shaped lake is 836 meters long and the maximum width is 427 meters. The maximum depth of this lake is 49 ft and the average depth is about 15 ft. During summer and autumn, you will find Primulas and other Alpine vegetation around the lake. During winter the lake becomes frozen. After being mesmerised with the serene beauty of the lake you can awaken your taste buds by trying some Tibetan noodles or continue your journey towards Baba Mandir. Baba Mandir is a shrine made in the honour of an Indian army Captain Harbhajan Singh. He is revered by soldiers of the Indian army as the “Hero of Nathu La”. As with most saints, the Baba is said to also grant favours presumably to those who revere and worship him. After offering your prayer and having lunch start for Gangtok. During evening in Gangtok you are free to either relax or buy some souvenirs for your close ones. Stay overnight at Gangtok.

GANGTOK SIGHTSEEING

Have your breakfast and get ready to explore Gangtok. Your first stop is Banjhakhri Falls and Energy Park. ‘Ban’ means Forest and ‘Jhakhri’ means Shaman. The park is in a thickly forested part of Swastik about 7 km from Gangtok. This is a natural waterfall sourced from springs. Your next stop is Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, World’s renowned institute doing its research on Tibetan language and culture. Next we will take you to Hanuman Tok. It is a Hanuman Temple. The place is famous for offering breathtaking view of world’s 3rd highest mountain peak Mt. Kanchenjunga (28,169 ft). Then we will stop for lunch. During post Lunch session your destination will be Deorali Bazaar to take the Rope Way ride for a bird’s eye view of Gangtok. Your next destination is Botanical Garden to see beautiful collection of trees and plants with their scientific names. And day’s final destination is Tashi View Point & Ganesh Tok to witness the surreal sunset over the lofty Himalayan Valley. Afterwards you are free to take rest or else you can explore the locality of Gangtok. Stay overnight at Gangtok.

TRANSFER TO LACHEN

On day 4 your Grand Sikkim tour begins with a grand journey towards North Sikkim. After breakfast checkout from the hotel and start your journey towards your hotel in Lachen. The journey will take approximately 6 hrs from Gangtok with a distance of roughly 110 km. Lachen is a small sleepy Himalayan hamlet situated at an elevation of 9022 ft. On your way to Lachen stop at Singhik View Point famous for offering the most breathtaking view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Siniolchu (22598 ft). Also stop at Seven Sisters Waterfalls where you can beckon the magical beauty of cascading water. Your next stop is Chungthang a pictorial hamlet by the side of Lachung Chhu. Nearby Chungthang Lachung Chhu meets Lachen Chhu and mighty Teesta River is now in prominence. This place is known to be blessed by Guru Padmasambava, the patron saint of Sikkim. You will find the rock that bears the hand and footprints of Guru Padmasambava. You will have your lunch in between on the way to Lachen. After checking in at your hotel evening you are free to relax and enjoy the tranquil landscape of Lachen. Stay overnight at Lachen.

VISIT TO GURUDONGMAR LAKE & TRANSFER TO LACHUNG

After having breakfast let’s get ready for a 3 hrs drive to Gurudongmar Lake with an approx distance of 66.3 km. Gurudongmar Lake is among the highest lakes in world as well as in India at an altitude of 17,800ft. In 8th Century Guru Padmasambava visited this lake, after him the lake was named. It is also believed that during 15th century Guru Nanak also visited this place. Please remember to be preparing for breathing problem which may happen because of such high altitude. Situated on the foothill of a snow-capped mountain, locally known as ‘Raja Rani Pahar’ (Mountain of King and Queen), Gurudongmar Lake has left many travellers mesmerised with its celestial beauty. After being enthralled with the beauty of this majestic lake return to your hotel. Check out from your hotel after lunch and visit Lachen Monastery then start your journey for Lachung via Chungthang. The distance is about 47 km but it may take 3 hrs to reach as you may stop in few places for clicks. On the way to Lachung you can visit the Bhim Nala Waterfall. Lachung is another sleepy little hamlet of North Sikkim. After c heck in you are free for the rest of the evening to relax and enjoy the majestic view of snow peaked mountains, vibrant rhododendron valley, and lush green yak pastures surrounding Lachung. VISIT TO YUMTHANG VALLEY & TRANSFER TO GANGTOK

After having your breakfast we will drive you to Yumthang Valley famously known as the Valley of Flowers. It is an hour drive from Lachung. The Yumthang Valley or Sikkim Valley of Flowers sanctuary is a nature sanctuary. With river, hot springs, yaks and grazing pasture on Rolling Meadows surrounded by the Himalayan Mountains it is a place nearer to heaven. Yumthang is situated at an elevation of 11,693 ft. On your way toward Yumthang Valley you will be driving through the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary. The best time to visit this sanctuary is from April to June. During this period rhododendrons are in full bloom and the sanctuary turns into a riot of colours. In the winter, Yumthang is hidden beneath the blanket of White Snow and showcases the view of snow clad mountains which add to the ethereal beauty of this place. While returning from Yumthang don’t forget to visit the famous hot spring known for its curative properties. Visit Lachung Monastery once you reach your hotel. After lunch check out from your hotel and start for Gangtok. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening either to relax or to take a stroll in the MG Marg. TRANSFERS TO PELLING

Have your breakfast then checkout from your hotel for your 5 hrs journey towards Pelling at a distance of 117.2 km. Thriving as one of the most alluring hill stations in India, Pelling is known for its scenic beauty and ancient monasteries in Sikkim. Pelling caught the limelight for offering the panoramic vista of Mt Kanchenjunga and its surrounding range. The journey between Gangtok and Pelling is a beautiful ride through steep green hills and deep valley filled with the mesmerizing land dotted with fast flowing mountain rivers and numerous waterfalls. Have your lunch on the way to Pelling. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening to either go for a leisure walk along the misty track through pine forest or try the local cuisine or simply relax in your room while enjoying the beautiful landscape of Pelling. PELLING SIGHTSEEING

The day’s sightseeing will start from a quaint little Limbu village name Darap. Interact with the locals also don’t forget to visit their temple it might surprise you. Your next destination is Rimbi Waterfall which is famous for its magical beauty. After spending some time you will be visiting Sewaro Rock Garden. It is a well maintained garden with pools and a popular picnic spots and an ideal place to have lunch. After lunch your next stop is Kanchenjunga Waterfall one of the most spectacular waterfalls coming down from a great height. You need to climb few steps to reach this majestic waterfall. Then we will head to Khechiopalri Tsho commonly known as Khechiperi Lake. This lake is also known as the wish fulfilling lake. The lake is surrounded by lush green forests a tranquil place to stay amidst the nature. After watching the astounding sites return to your resort. You are free for the rest of the evening to either watch the sunset over the Mighty Kanchenjunga from your hotel room or take a stroll in the evening around the helipad or Shopping centre of Pelling. DROP TO NJP/BAGDOGRA VIA NAMCHI

Say your farewell to this beautiful town after breakfast and start your 5 hrs journey towards NJP/Bagdogra through steep green hill. On the way to NJP/Bagdogra you can visit Namchi while stopping for lunch. It is a fast developing place in South Sikkim is often known as the Culture Capital of the state. The place has been developed as a religious and cultural hub for tourism in Sikkim. You can see replica of all the four Dhams of India (char Dhams) at Namchi and also the biggest statue of Guru Padmasambava at Sandruptse. Namchi has a Central Park (a small square) at the town centre. It will take roughly 2 hrs to visit all these places. Continue your journey towards NJP/Bagdogra after visiting the famous Charm Dham of Sikkim. After reaching NJP/Bagdogra your 8 Nights and 9 Days Grand Sikkim Tour Package will come to an end.
